They go to investigate and rescue an Austrlain female doctor and her Irish nurse from the Taliban. In this they discover a lost town of ancient Alans in the barren hills. They too are threatened by Taliban raiders and their local allies with their drug and arms runner friends. The action ranges from these border regions to the arms bazaars further east as the narrator attempts to thwart both separate threats with his own force of local and loyal irregulars. The rest of the world is indifferent to what is happening in the area. The novel concludes a month before 9/11 when the Taliban become known to the whole world. An exciting adventure novel with plenty of action, humour and romance plus history. This novel is a stand alone story but also part of the Saga of the Woden born series. Approx 479 pages ,
