Charles Barkley was a physical anomaly: On the basketball court, he did things with his body that a normal person of his dimensions would not have been able to do. At 6’4” — though he was listed at 6’6” — Barkley averaged over 10 rebounds per game several times and was consistently one of the league’s top scorers, an All-Star starter and 2-time gold medal winner as a member of Team USA. Charles was able to score over and around bigger opponents using his quickness, athleticism and nimble footwork. He could nail a 3-pointer, grab a rebound and go coast-to-coast for a dunk, and bang in the paint with centers. In this Signature Workout program, we will develop in your game some of Charles’ strengths, namely: • Using Your Foot Quickness To Get Around Defenders • Back-Down Scoring Moves In The Paint • Shot-Fake Scoring Moves For Scoring On Taller Defenders • Explosive One-Dribble Scoring Moves To The Basket *Always Remember: When you get into your games, you won’t need to have memorized anything from this program. The workouts are designed for you to absorb them into your muscle memory -- all of this Hoop Handbook becomes part of your game’s makeup through repetition. You will be using this stuff in ways you won’t ever need to plan again. This requires two things from you. 1) That you commit to putting in the work -- as much as you need, which you need to decide -- to make your skills “automatic”, in that you end up doing moves without premeditation. 2) That, when game time comes, you stop thinking so much. The physical work has been done. Get into your Mental Zone -- whatever that is and however you need to get into it -- and let instinct take over.
