Randall Devens, his wife Denise, the goddess Artemis, and the android Scot returned from the last Elysian (Martian) city in existence, Pavonia. They intended to explore the city, but the overseer Carl, a holographic projection, sent them on an unscheduled journey of self-awareness, one that didn’t require them to leave the city. The journey lasted for two days, leading them where they never expected to go in order to explore their true beliefs. It ended successfully, but was it only a dream? The Luxans, the Sol system’s simian race, reached technological greatness first. They watched their warring reptilian neighbors, intervening only when the Elysians were poised to break free of their planet. They taught the Elysians to turn from their warring ways; the lesson was lengthy, but satisfying when the students finally understood. For a thousand years, the two different species nurtured their Terran neighbors, a humanoid race, at least until the Titans arrived, destroying Luxa, the eventual asteroid belt.Randall foresaw changes that would make vintas faster, almost invincible, basing his ideas on technology gained from the Monku and Elysian civilizations. His inspiration came while helping his daughter Renee while visiting Pavonia. There, he also learned of a complex abandoned by the Elysians on Terra, 150,000 years earlier. He found the facility acceptable, particularly after he met its computer that chose the name Fenrick, while manifesting itself as a hologram; Randall found Fenrick to be both personable and helpful. Before he began a four-part plan to alter an old Dallis-class vinta, given to him by Androov, he experienced a disturbing dream. In it, the Titans invaded Terra again, but it also revealed that he would no longer be welcome in the Krylonean cities. He apprised Androov and his wife Denise of his dream, temporarily removing the memory from both other them. With Artemis’ help, he worked feverishly to alter the vinta before the Titans arrived. The improvements to the vinta exceeded Randall’s expectations. When the two-man Titan pre-strike reconnaissance team arrived, Randall’s dream came true; exile to Patagonia was his reward. His dream didn’t foretell that he would be able to summon his powers by mere desire. Of all the people he knew, only Morgan refused to abandon him, risking banishment so he wouldn’t live out his life alone, at least until Artemis arrived to offer her assistance. The Titan battleship arrived with only a half-hour notice by Fenrick. Would they be able to stop the two-prong attack on the surface and underground cities? Would the Kryloneans believe him when he arrived in Krylar to warn them of the advancing Titan warriors? Dorsalis and five of his warriors faced sixty advancing Titans in the tunnels, most were uncertain why they were fighting to save humans from certain death. Could they overcome their fears and pull themselves together as one united force? The Alliance is a powerful story of love and salvation as Randall, Denise, Artemis, and countless others fight the battle that was previously only a dream of self-awareness. In too many ways, the dream foretold the future. In many ways, the outcome was different, sometimes for the better, but usually not. Be prepared to shed a tear as people are betrayed, denial is overwhelming, reunion is sweet, loved ones are lost, and the future of the Alliance hangs in the balance.
