Synopsis: The Osprey can be found in abundance in the Ocean City Maryland area as well as along the entire United States Atlantic seacoast. It has also been called the Sea Hawk, the Fish Eagle, and the Fish Hawk. It is a Bird of Prey, which hunts its food via flight; enabled by very keen eyesight; and it lives entirely on fish taken by force from the sea, the bays, and the wetlands. Its height ranges from 21 to 24 inches, and its wingspan ranges from 54 to 72 inches. Even though the word ‘Raptor‘ is most associated with Hawks, the Osprey is also classified as a Raptor because it seizes its food using powerful talons, and consumes the fish by tearing its flesh using its large beak. The American Indian considered these majestic & powerful birds to be Sun Gods because they flew so very high in the sky above the sea before descending in a rapid dive into the waters below, easily catching a fish seen from on high (as do all Birds of Prey)! The elder Indians passed-on the folklore of these Raptors to their children. Today, Birds of Prey are protected by the American government, since they are at the top of Nature’s food chain. This is the story of ‘Human Raptors’ that savagely seize what they want from the innocent and the meek. History has shown the most infamous of these predators were the: Chinese Triads Sicilian Cosa Nostra German 3rd Reich Italian Fascists Japanese Shogun American Mafia Syndicates Mexican/American Mafia Cartels Columbian Cartels Chosŏn'gŭl: North Korean Communist Fanatics The Pelican Roost Murders relates the story of a modern day predators and this novel concludes that, quite contrary to protecting Birds of Prey, these confederations of ‘Human Raptors’ must be swiftly quashed and erased from Nature, no matter what their size in power might be! At first, this novel flashes back about fifty years to introduce several key characters that either begin their lives in Ocean City, end their lives in Ocean City, or move back to Ocean City, Maryland. It’s a darn good small town police procedural!
