Dissociative Identity Disorder (formerly named Multiple Personalities) is explained by a woman who has lived with the disorder her entire life. Coming from a background of consistent and long-term abuse from the age of three until she was nineteen, she used her mind to deal with the day-to-day issues in a brilliant fashion. But when the abuse stopped, her disorder remained. Identifying the why's and wherefore's of changing formerly productive but now unproductive behavior brought her to certain conclusions which she is now sharing.
