Creatures Great, Small, and Strange, the third book in the Children’s Poems for Grown-ups and Vice Versa series, analyzes the behavior of animals great (a kangaroo, dinosaurs), small (two domestic cats), and strange (a platypus, and the true story of a toad-eating child in a Batman costume). Every poem in this series aims to entertain while introducing children to new vocabulary, and sometimes outlook, as well as to a variety of tones, styles and rhetorical techniques with the hope of developing the child’s interest in literature.
