This text contains a wealth of clearly presented Alchemical information. Dr. Becker draws much data from the writings of famous alchemists such as Basil Valentine, Lull, Raimund, Quercitanus, Agricola, Paracelsus and many others. He talks about the Philosopher's Stone, the transmutation of metals, the making of great medicines, and all the common topics of Alchemy in a very scientific way, given that his writings are from the 19th century. Dr. Becker provides a refreshing insight into the study and practice of Alchemy. He writes, "Alchemy...was natural science in its old form." This book is the result of a coordinated effort by several R.A.M.S. members. Hans W. Nintzel added it to the R.A.M.S. (Restorers of Alchemical Manuscripts Society) Library in 1981.
