This collection of poems and stories of America encompasses the history of wealth and industry of our own U.S.A. in North America and also Mexico. There are stories in the book of 200 years ago of the Lowells and Lawrences of textile mill fame in Boston, Massachusetts and stories of the ever-present Prescotts. Hispanic-Americans are also a central part of this book. Their hero, Don Gaspar de Portola, who founded Monterey, California was fundamental to the later victories of the U.S.A. over Mexico. The long length of American industries and democracy encompasses freedom for all of us in the United States. This book is the the fruit of their labors.
