EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK Evanovich, a card-carrying member of the Romance Writers of American and Sisters in Crime, wrote for 10 years before she was published. Her earlier efforts were not, she admits, terribly commercial. "The first story was about the pornographic adventures of a fairy who lived in a second rate fairy forest in Pennsylvania."
