A FORTUNATE MAN is a full-length play about a wealthy Latin American artist with an international following who speaks out against the corruption of the authoritarian government of his country. The government responds by cracking down on him. Cesar Rodriguez’ work is banned and no galleries may exhibit it, the press is ordered to stop printing their interviews with him, his income is heavily taxed, and his personal freedom is sharply curtailed. But he will not be silenced. Using the internet to spread his message he becomes an international cause célèbre. When he is finally forced to choose between cooperation or prison, he announces that he is willing to relinquish his successful life in order to give hope to those "who live in darkness." 7 principal characters, 3-4 others Run time approximately 2 hours
