Board members and executives are often bemused by IT projects. While they can understand 'normal' projects, they just don't understand IT project investments. Are they different or is this a myth? In this short book we outline eight key characteristics of IT projects that make them different to other types of projects. For example, that the product being produced is invisible - you can't see it to assess how complete it is. For each characteristic a series of recommendations are made to reduce the potential impact and increase your likelihood of success. These recommendations are then summarized as a series of Key Levers for Success. IT projects do not need to be more difficult to understand, govern or manage provided you understand their key characteristics and know what to do to ensures success. This book gives you all of the knowledge you need.
