Former Mossad operative and homicide detective Jake Spencer is back at it with another mission that takes him to a forgotten slum outside of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This time everything is different. First, his client appears to be a man who dies while Spencer is visiting with him in a hospice. Only, the request for help comes from the lips of the man after he is dead. “I know who you are Jake Spencer, you must go, they need your help.” The voice came from his lips but the voice was definitely not Joe’s. Spencer flinched and felt a strange chill run through him. He had the eerie feeling like he had just been given his next job from a dead man. Spencer thinks he is going to help a young mother and her teenage daughter but nothing is what it seems and no one can be trusted. Spencer finds himself in the middle of a war involving a group of killers known as the “death squad” that are targeting young street kids who are helping a drug cartel. Spencer teams up with a beautiful woman, the current Chief of Police in Rio de Janeiro, who he thinks he can trust. Can Spencer trust her or is she playing a deceitful game to use him and then discard him? Spencer’s friend X, the former NSA computer genius discovers that Spencer is up against world power brokers known only as the “Group of Five.” Why are these men interested in this forgotten slum in South America? Why are they backing a group of killers who have police officers and former police officers working for them? Spencer also must recruit the help of his protégé and partner Samantha Stanbrook as the web of deceit grows and threatens everything Spencer cares about. This high octane thriller will keep you turning the page until the final shot is fired.
