US Army, Technical Manual, TM 9-1300-275/3, TECHNICAL ESCORT CONTAINMENT PROCEDURES, 1971 PURPOSE. This manual is published for the guidance of technical escort personnel who handle, ship, and decontaminate chemical-agent munitions and containera. SCOPE. This manual covers end item chemical-agent munitions and standard containers for chemical agents. It shows external identifying features with particular attention to openings, explosive components, or other hazards. Operation of the munition is discussed only to the extent that it is capable of operating in its shipping configuration ; a munition normally shipped without explosives will not have its explosive operation explained. After the item and its hazardous functions are described, safety procedures for its various shipping configurations are presented, and suggested equipment for these procedures is listed.
