A successful real estate broker in Colorado early in the Twenty First Century begins to experience a bloodcurdling nightmare that has him questioning his sanity and his family relationships. Efforts to end recurring dreams and re-establish his failing relationship with his wife lead him to counseling and investigation of his family’s past, seeking an answer to the clandestine secret lurking behind veiled explanations of his family heritage with possible connections to his dreams. His quest leads him to pioneers traveling west on the Oregon Trail, raising more questions than answers as he discovers only sketchy and seemingly irrelevant and unrelated information. Deciding to give up his fruitless search and simply enjoy a vacation, he suddenly finds himself transported in time, personally involved in the exodus from the chaotic aftermath of America's civil war. Exposed to dangers and life threatening accusations, he struggles to deal with the challenges of his personal situation while facing murderous attacks that he doesn’t understand. Fearing that he may be stuck in the time of the past and worried that he may never return to his life and family in the twenty first century, he becomes intimately involved with a wife and family that existed 150 years before he was born, torn between concerns for this family of the past and the family he has left in the future… Finding himself in a wagon travelling West with this family, eerily like his own, Rob must face the rigors of avoiding accusers who would kill him and this family, while at the same time trying to comprehend where he is and how he got there. Oscillating between panic and resignation in his unfamiliar surroundings, Rob finds himself responsible for this family he has never known but in the experience finds deeper meaning and appreciation for his own relationships with his wife, children and family.
