At the turn of the millennium, a young man from a remote town at the edge of the jungle sets out for Delhi, the capital of India, to start on a very ordinary job in an NGO. Unfortunately, a taxi driver tries to fleece him as soon as he lands in the city, and sets off a chain of events in which bigger powers get involved. Confusion, violence, heartbreak and monkey business follow. In the end, it is left to his celebrated grandfather, the extraordinary Mowgli and his former enemies the monkey people, to deal with the fury of the tiger of the urban jungle. This is an adventure, a riposte to Kipling, and a modern allegory about the Indian subcontinent. But first of all, it is a fun, racy read.
