"The Theory of Knowledge and Human Behavior examines the origins and nature of knowledge from an Islamic perspective. Author I. H. Abdul-Qadir challenges traditional and popular beliefs by relying only on the Qur’an and sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) to tackle important and at times controversial issues, including creation, evolution, and the origins of human behavior as well as the establishment of the ummah, or a united Muslim society. The pursuit of knowledge is one of the most important responsibilities and acts of worships incumbent on every Muslim, regardless of gender. In fact the first revelation to our beloved Prophet, peace be upon him (PBUH), was “Iqra” or “read,” which is a command to pursue knowledge. To understand the significance of this responsibility in Islam, we need to take notice of the fact that Islam is a religion that does not have and never has had institutionalized clergy or recognized “spiritual leaders.” In Islam, Muslims are teachers who have been commanded to teach others what they know, as well as students of knowledge commanded to pursue learning. Every Muslim is expected to fall in both categories. In The Theory of Knowledge and Human Behavior, Abdul-Qadir explains that the only way we can speak the truth and be objective is by repeating what we have learned from the source of knowledge as it is without subjecting it to our thought process."
