Spiky was a rowdy hedgehog. He felt good when others were feeling bad. But once upon a time he met a little abandoned cuckoo whom he called Chirpy. The latter trusted Spiky and he felt what it meant to be loved. He changed and never left the little bird alone. The Forest Council was not willing to let him adopt little Chirpy because he was spiny and wicked. In order to prove the opposite, the hedgehog shaved his left side to have soft skin and be able to hug Chirpy. He left the spines on the other side to protect the little bird from danger.
