“The Sequestered Photograph” is the story of a fifteen year old girl who lives with her wealthy Jewish family in an opulent penthouse apartment in New York City. By accident she discovers a photograph sequestered in an old geometry text that had belonged to her mother in high school. The discovery of the photo led to her uncover the family “skeleton in the closet”, that the man she always thought was her father, was really only a stepfather, and her real father is a Colorado cowboy, the result of a fling her mother had as a teenager just graduating from high school. Because she has always had an intense interest in mountains, horses, and ranch life, she manipulates her parents into letting her go to Colorado to become acquainted with her real father and his way of life. You will laugh at how a complete tenderfoot gets incorporated into life “on a different planet.” Rural people will tell you that when city people land on a farm or ranch, they look around and say, “What do you do out here?” The answer to that is “plenty”. Read “The Sequestered Photograph” and enjoy how Eileen learns to cope with her new environment and the many unexpected crises which come about.
