‘The School Trip’ is an account of three of the many school trips organised by the author and his long suffering wife with groups of High School Children of both sexes involving hundreds of children over the course of many years. They include ‘The Norfolk Broads Camping and Sailing Trip’, ‘The English Canals Trip’ using three seventy feet long narrow boats with absolutely no experience of such vessels and ‘The Dutch Canals Trip’. The reader will no doubt have noticed a ‘nautical’ theme to all of the trips. Water and children? What could possibly go wrong? Children can be ‘difficult’ but also very ‘original’ and very funny. We had moments of utter panic, near tragedy but lots of laughs – often at the teachers’ expense! To whom will the book appeal? If you are or ever were a teacher who went on a ‘School Trip’ or if you were a pupil who went on one or if you are a parent who has always wondered just what did go on during the school trip on which you sent your child this is for you.
