Fairstone School for Boys, a thousand years old, mysterious, and luxurious, is considered the finest preparatory school in all of Vetlinue, where greatness and the leaders of tomorrow are forged within its black castle walls built around a dying magical Ida tree. The sons of Bastin’s powerful lords and privileged elite call the ancient institution of learning their home, and so does another fourteen-year-old boy, a boy nor lord or privileged, Pard Wenerly, seeros. Pard finds himself at Fairstone among his betters by the grace of luck or a curse, or at least that is what the boys think of Pard’s presence. What the boys of Fairstone nor Pard realize is that a powerful force greater than anything they can comprehend is growing inside of the young seeros, and it will soon unleash its might for all to witness. The results set off a cascade of events that spiral out of control as Pard’s enemies intend to capitalize on this revelation. Dangerous mercenaries appear at Fairstone and in the nearby resort town of Greysin, and a high stakes game ensues. Old secrets and lies long since buried within the ancient castle come to light and hit closer to home than Pard could ever imagine. Pard must unravel the mystery of himself and the growing conspiracy that surfaces as he tries to stay one step ahead of his enemies.
