The Philadelphia Convention: In Their Own Words (English Edition) [Kindle-editie]

The results of the Constitutional Convention are fairly well known to most Americans, and in fact to many around the world. But most are not aware of what went on at the Convention itself, through the debates on the floor, and many more conversations through letters. I have brought together excerpts from many of the letters that flowed in and out of Philadelphia that summer, as well as a number of diary entries and newspaper references. You can find those in other parts of the internet, but what you don't normally find with them are explanations of who is who in the exchanges. I have done much digging to uncover the identities of most of these writers and recipients. (One letter recipient remained a mystery to me, even after much research.)Arranged chronologically, these writings give a good taste of the hopes, fears, and concerns, of those in and out of Philadelphia during the long, hot summer of 1787.
