This is an enlightening insight into real uniform police work covering the experiences of a British uniform police constable between the period between 1970 and 1980. It covers the initial training transferring from a civilian role to that of an officer appointed under the crown, at a time when it was considered the police service within the British Isles was at its best. Where respect from the community always rewarded dedicated and hard working officers, who also had a good rapport from majority of the criminals that they had dealt with. Covering subjects of basic police work to car chases, to serious detection of crime, to offences involving prostitution and the role of a coroners officer. It is an extremely interesting read giving a real flavour of what took place, touching on some sad, exciting and comical real life experiences which were part of everyday police work from working a rural beat and that of a busy built up multicultural area, to where many different kinds of crime were committed that was dealt with at the time.
