After serving in the Royal Navy during the early 1950’s he returned to South Africa to work in mining and construction. In 1960 he settled permanently in Britain and made his career in the building industry. From 1970 to 1974 he was the Conservative Member of Parliament for Dartford. He has written Rodney and the Breaking of the Line published by Pen & Sword in 2006. He has lived in Surrey for many years.
