People think of “heroes” and they traditionally think of cops, soldiers, F.B.I. agents—uniformed one way or another and toting a gun, or, in rarer cases, a bible, depending on the villain in the story. They forget about the little guy. The Average Joe. The plumber. The photographer. The lumberjack. They forget that anybody can be a hero. Anybody can save a life. And, sometimes, it’s completely by accident. This is a story about those heroes. And those accidents.
