Originally from Southern California, he started on the path to becoming a doctor as an undergraduate at Stanford University and a medical student at Georgetown. He stayed in Washington for residency and was Chief Resident at the Georgetown University/Washington Hospital Center Emergency Medicine Training Program. He was the President of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) Resident and Student Association, and the chair of the AAEM Young Physician Section Government Affairs Committee. He is active in medical education, leading Emergency Medicine Journal Club at Georgetown and is the Advisor to the Emergency Medicine Interest Group for medical students. He is the author of a number of peer-reviewed publications, editor of the “Rules of the Road for Residents” publication, and presented research and lectured at regional and national meetings. He has also won a number of teaching awards including the “String of Pearls,” Hugh H.
