Horrific forces are at work in the sleepy little town of Port Solace, Washington. Those who have seen what lays in wait are either dead, or would prefer to forget. Aaron Williams is no different. He lives a mundane life, absorbed in the comfort of his daily routine. He is an art student at the local university, and works two jobs just to keep his head above water. He would be more than happy to ignore the workings of the world around him, but after a chance encounter with a girl named Laura, his life of comfort and monotony is quickly turned upside down. At first they were just dreams; or at least, that's what he thought. Yet there was something familiar in them, and Aaron felt that same tug of familiarity and nostalgia each time he looked into Laura's eyes. Something about her makes him remember, pulling half-forgotten memories up from the depths of his mind, and he can't escape the feeling that the things he doesn't remember are forgotten for a reason. He'd be more than happy to keep it that way. However, when Laura comes up missing, and one by one Aaron's friends start to die, he is pulled into a plot he cannot escape. The dreams are no longer dreams, and the horrifying world he once thought was all inside of his head is now bleeding through into his reality. How did he wind up drawn into the fold, and why does Laura seem to be the catalyst to the rapidly unfolding drama? Aaron allies himself with a strange group of crusaders who claim to know the answers, but ultimately he doesn't know who he can trust. Their answers only seem to breed more questions, and their dangerous methods only pull him deeper into a thickening plot. Before long he's left with no choice. He sets out to find Laura; to find the answers to the mysterious nightmare that has ultimately become his reality.
