Surviving New Jersey, is a warped chronicling of a life so rich with humor and heartbreak it could double as a Greek play. This coming of age story told through a series of short essays by Benjamin Mehl, a young man reflecting on his life from his childhood up to his late twenties living in New Jersey.The story begins with a chance meeting with John F. Kennedy Jr., in what Mehl describes as, “The day the most handsome son of a bitch ever, cursed my family like a black cat.” As the story unfolds we get to be a fly on the wall in all of Mehl’s hilarious and heart crushing situations, from getting a finger cut off, having his car explode like a bad MacGyver episode, and having to bury his uncle, next to his father.
