Summer: Okanagan River (English Edition) [Kindle-editie]

Set in B.C.’s Okanagan Valley in the early 1990s, this screenplay is a little slice of small town life, with all its contradictions, pathos and humour. Laureen, who is of First Nations heritage, is a rookie R.C.M.P. constable. During her first summer on the job, she encounters opposition from the town’s narrow-minded mayor, and learns about the realities of small town law enforcement. Bob, the detachment corporal, is initially skeptical of her abilities, while Jamey, a local part-time musician and full-time prankster, causes trouble for her at every turn. Although attracted to each other, Laureen and Jamey are constantly at odds, due to their opposing views of the law in particular as well as society in general. As Lauren struggles to grow into her role as a cop, she discovers that she can also serve as a catalyst for bringing lasting change to the village.
