Marianne James, a retired lawyer, is victimized by a malicious doctor who has come down the stream of time from the era ruled by Egypt. Seeking wealth and power, he allows nothing to stand in his way. When he realizes Marianne could be a formidable asset to his designs, he inserts a device in her brain that propels her into the future, and she is in danger of passing into oblivion since each passage takes five years from her physical age. At first, she's bewildered. She doesn't know that because of her beauty and intelligence, she's been chosen to become the consort of the malevolent doctor, and he expects her to help him gain power and wealth by subjugating mankind. When she understands his goals, she devises a plan to stop him and save her life. Since she refuses to submit to this evil manipulator, he wants to retrieve the insert from her brain; and Marianne seeks the right person to help her foil his plot. Her strategy centers on educating a brilliant young Jewish boy who will develop into a skilled surgeon who can adjust the device. He falls in love with Marianne and later becomes her husband. After dealing with the egotistical doctor, they experience hardship and perilous adventures as they travel down the stream of time. Along the way, they encounter a depraved and vicious Nephilim--a half-human, half-demon giant--and escape Earth just as it is destroyed by an asteroid. Journeying across the galaxy, they arrive on a planet they name Amitie. Here they suffer more misadventures and again face the wicked Nephilim who is determined to destroy what he can't rule. Will the despicable and dreadful hybrid prevent the settlers from finding peace and security? Is humanity doomed to extinction? The answers to these questions unfold in the astonishing conclusion of the Stream of Time.
