One night, he is visited by a pale woman wearing a wet shroud. She dries herself before the fire but flees before morning. She visits several more times before he falls in love, despite believing her to be a vampire living in a glass-topped stone coffin in the crypt. About The Author Abraham "Bram" Stoker (1847 –1912) was an Irish novelist and short story author best known today for his 1897 Gothic classic Dracula. He was also the personal assistant of actor Henry Irving and manager of London’s Lyceum Theatre. Part of the inspiration for Dracula is believed to have come from. Stoker’s visit to the English town of Whitby in 1890.
