This may just be a little book, but in my opinion it is a big piece of my history and lineage. It is obvious that this book sends and represents a simple message of overcoming any obstacle you put your mind to. I also couldn’t write this piece without discussing another theme in this reading. “It takes a village” concept is very relevant throughout this book. My grandmother was the staple of the village. I’m confident everyone in my family will agree grandma really held our village together and showed us clear direction. There was never the perfect house, shiniest car or the best dressed family, but in Grandma’s eyes those things material things didn’t matter. I’m confident that all of her readers will be able to extract these three major themes and also understand why they were so important to her. I have no doubt that this book will be something tangible and important to our family. I find this to be a blessing and whenever I want to hear Grandma’s voice I can simply pick this book up and begin to read, listen and just smile.
