Especially during this day of remembrance, may all beings be happy and peaceful. May flowers blossom from a tragedy. All our lives have been touched and changed by 9/11. I was in Boston, studying, when another student told me the Twin Towers were no more. At first, I assumed I misunderstood his words. Then, going to the students' lounge and seeing the images on the screen, my view on life changed.I could have been there, visiting NYC again and the Towers on a trip which I decided to delay. Or I could have been studying in NYC, if a colleague would have not been advised me to visit Boston. Or I could have been on the flight from Logan airport to NYC on my way back to Europe, if another colleague would have not advised me that traveling on Thu could have saved me money. So many small things, such a big difference in the outcomes one life can have.In the tenth anniversary of 9/11, I decided to put together this book, to remember the victims and the heroes of September 11th. And also all the people whose lives were touched. May flowers blossom from a tragedy... This book is my small contribution to give breath back to hope, peace and joyful living. We owe this to the people who perished in 9/11, to the innocent people born on that tragic day. We owe it to ourselves. We cannot change what happened that day, we cannot change the fatalities. What we can do, here and now, together, is to ensure that truth, hope, love and peace live on; we can ensure that truth, hope, love and peace are not going to be fatalities. This book is made by two parts. The first, is taken from the book “A course in happiness”. The second, is made by quotes from people who shared their feelings about 9/11. None of the quotes is meant to reflect what I feel about the event, they are a way to stimulate your thoughts, hopefully in a non-judgmental way. Considering the events of Sept. 11th are well-known, newspapers, interneet and TV news will surely represent us with images and videos from that day. My contribution is to share what I lived so far.
