R and R is the story of a troubled young Scotsman who emigrates to the United States in 1964 seeking a new beginning. Instead, he finds himself sinking deeper and deeper into a life of intrigue, despair and degradation, from which he eventually tries to escape. It is also the story of an unsuspected relationship leading to hopes of redemption in the face of overwhelming challenges. Set in the jungles of Southeast Asia during the Vietnam conflict; confronting police frustration and vigilantism in Southern California; and exploring conflicting emotions resulting from distressful family situations in America and Scotland, R and R, confronts issues which illustrate the complexities of human nature and morality.
