Big Dan King, his grizzled old sidekick and crew escort a wagon-train to California. As they return, they’re attacked by Apache Indians. After they survive and return to Hell’s-Half-Acre (a seedy area of Ft. Worth, Texas) wagon-train owner, Miss “Pretty” Libby Bell, attempts to hire Big Dan King to guide her wagon-train west. Big Dan refuses her offer! Though angry, Miss Libby Bell persists and tricks him into accepting her offer. Pretty Libby Bell did not reveal all the facts about her wagon-train; namely, that her wagons were taking slaves to California, away from the Civil War! Big Dan is appalled! But he’d agreed and shook hands with her on the deal, so… he’d never back out! However, in earlier years the infamous Nat Turner Rebellion had resulted in federal legislation condemning all blacks found in possession of a gun, be put to death! So… how to guide a Wagon-train of blacks without guns through an Apache-infested territory… windstorms and other dangers? In “Peoples’ Wagon Train”, Big Dan and his crew do it… the hard way!
