Ophelia Brown meets Serafina Campion, a runaway from a children's hostel. Serafina is sought by the ghastly Mrs Harker, and by a crook who is a pretty nasty case himself. Ophelia has to unravel the reasons behind this situation, and eventually she confronts the crook, and faces a puzzle when she traces Mrs Harker to a haunted Rectory. This novella is the third in the series, The Saga of Ophelia Brown, and is intended to be read by children of 9-12 years. The author describes the book as a modern fairy tale.
