Matai: The Gospel According to Matthew (NAVIA) (2. Matai (Matthew) NAVIA Book 1) (English Edition) [Kindle-editie]

There are many translations available today. This one does add to them all, yet with a difference. Instead of looking for a majority text, this translation seeks to unite and is an accumulation of the inspired texts available to us. The goal of the New Accumulated Version of the International Announcement (NAVIA) is to enable English-speaking people from around the world to read and hear God’s eternal Word in their own language. This work as a translators is motivated by the conviction that the Bible is God’s Word in written form. I believe that the Bible contains the divine answer to the deepest needs of humanity, sheds unique light on our path in a dark world and sets forth the way to our eternal well-being. I also believe that the New Testament is Jewish and to the Jews first, then all the nations. So all believers are indebted to the Jews and Israel! I have sought to translate the Greek to English and then took the best Aramaic and translated that to English too. The next objective was to resolve the two translations by using variations and later translations, such as the Latin Vulgate and the much later but invaluable Hebrew translations. This discovery and Bible study brought alive idioms and meanings to otherwise difficult to grasp passages. As I studied, prayerfully, it was often as though I was right there watching everything unfold. I was like the cameraman and the Holy Spirit the Director. I must point out at this stage that this is a translation and it is not perfect. In fact it's weakness is in it's quest which is to resolve the variations by looking at minorities instead of the majorities. I understand if this puts you off. Again, the objective of this writing is that it will be used of Holy Spirit to convict those that do not yet know 'Yeshua HaAdon, Maran Yeshua, Jesus is Lord! And for those that do know, that they will draw closer to Him. This deep conviction, seeks to therefore recreate as far as possible the experience of the original audience—blending transparency to the original text with accessibility for the millions of English speakers around the world. And it does it by noting the transliterations of the original names, pulled from the Greek transliterations, Aramaic, the Hebrew Tanach and modern Hebrew translations. After all, even though we know Who Jesus is, we would not have heard the Hebrew / Aramaic people calling Him this. We would have heard Him called 'Yeshua!' So for the NAVIA, the priorities have been for accuracy, clarity and literary quality with the goal of creating a translation suitable for public and private reading, evangelism, teaching, preaching. I have also sought to preserve a measure of continuity with the long tradition of translating the Scriptures into English, but not without the Scriptures deciding the words before the majority of other translations bias. This is not to say they are wrong, but it is the direction of this translation, to resolve, like an astronomer the different stars withing the galaxies, then the clusters, then the asterisms, then right close up. The NAVIA was first published in 2014. It was a completely new translation made by working directly from the best available Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek texts. The translator came from Great Britain giving the translation a very English scope. The translator has worshiped and fellowshiped with many from many synagogues and church denominations — including Sephardic Judaism, Ashkenazi Judaism, Unorthodox Judaism, Orthodox Judaism, Anglican, Assemblies of God, Baptist, Brethren, Christian Reformed, Church of Christ, Evangelical Free, Methodist, Nazarene, Presbyterian, Wesleyan and for the most recent years Messianic Judaism. To the Jews first, b'Melech Yeshua HaMashiach Adoneinu! (in Our Lord + King Messiah Jesus Christ), amen! AMEN!
