Jennifer Kate Hudson is a recording artist, actress and spokesperson. She rose to fame in 2004 as a finalist on the third season of American Idol, coming in seventh place but made a name for herself afterwards. She made her film debut in Dreamgirls (2006), which won her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, a Golden Globe Award, a BAFTA Award, an NAACP Image Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award and she also won a Grammy Award for her debut album simply entitled "Jennifer Hudson" back in 2008. In October 2008, after Hudson's mother, brother and nephew were killed in a shooting, Hudson stepped out of the public for three months but returned back to the public eye in early 2009. Since then she has become the spokeswoman for "Weight Watchers" and has lost a significant amount of weight herself using the program.
