A Journey Experience through the Bible Volume 5 The Divided Kingdom King Solomon had put the people under a heavy yoke of taxation during his reign. His taxation to fund the building of the temple and palace in the southern city of Jerusalem had practically distanced the northern tribes of Israel. Solomon died, the kingdom went to his son Rehoboam, and the people wanted him to lift the taxation to some relief. However, Solomon's son was going to tax them more, and be even harsher than his father. The nation of Israel split, and ten tribes of the kingdom were taken from him, giving to Jeroboam, and that kingdom became known as the Northern Kingdom of Israel. Rehoboam was left with two tribes--Judah and Benjamin, and that kingdom became known as the Southern Kingdom of Judah. Our journey takes us now to explore the character of a succession of kings--good kings and bad kings. When good kings rule, the nation usually prospers, but when bad kings rule the whole nation suffers. Discover how the Lord judge the nations that have bad kings, for the people are greatly affected by how a king rules. Eventually the kingdom or nation will fall. On this journey, we will meet the Minor and Major Prophets, who the Lord send to both kingdoms, to speak for Him. Sending them, giving them warning after warning to repent. Last, We will meet Jezebel, who was an evil and wicked woman in the Bible.
