Goodier, Alban (1869-1939), was a Jesuit priest and the Roman Catholic archbishop of Bombay. He was also a teacher of Greek and Latin to Jesuit students. While teaching he developed an interest in the theory of education and he published several articles on the topic. In 1909, he established the Catholic Library aiming to make Christian literature available at low cost, an attempt that failed by the outbreak of war in 1914. After completing his mission in Bombay and a deteriorating health, he returned to England, where he remained until his death.
