Voices: An hypothesis about self-sustaining unrecognized verbal thoughts (auditory verbal hallucinations, hearing voices) in otherwise healthy people, trans-cranial magnetic stimulation and speech therapyAbstractThis hypothesis is with regard to people hearing voices or auditory verbal hallucinations that are self-sustaining for years, have a recurring theme in two party dialog. The people we are concerned with have no other medical or objectively measured abnormal condition. The dialog is original, not recalled sound, even though themes don’t change. The most important point to note from this article is that there is no doubt that some people have a temporary stop to the single party and two party dialog of voices when their larynx is worked or pressed. Other action on the speech and hearing system has an effect as well. This is the basis for the anatomical and physiological circuit model to explain the process which is happening. Another important point is that the process for hearing this type of voice may be normal but not thought about at all, normally. Tran-cranial magnetic stimulation appears to have turned two party dialog into single party dialog much to the relief of Jacinta. Jacinta’s physical actions during the experience show a strong relationship between hearing voices and our circuit model which is based on the anatomy & physiology of speech, language and hearing.
