22 year old professional athlete and motivational speaker DeMarcus Rogers opens his life up in his debut story telling motivational book, Grind or Get Ate: Live Your Dreams or Live Your Fears. At the age of 18 years old, he faced 12 years in prison and lost the one important thing in his life he cherished dearly. He goes into detail on how he had to fight back from years of adversity just to get back to the starting line to start on his road to success. The purpose of this book is to inspire, motivate, empower, and serve others. DeMarcus Rogers goal as an author is to encourage individuals to follow their dreams even when their desire has been destroyed by life’s challenges. Through his long journey he lost consistently before he ever won. DeMarcus lost faith in God, himself, his family and the people around him that wanted to see him win and be something. Suffering from depression, and many setbacks, Rogers started to feel like God was against him, although that was never the case. God never said life would be easy, or all the roads would have light, but he did say in Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord “plans to prosper you and not harm to you, plans to give you Hope and a future.” This book is written as a tool against setbacks, road blocks and adversity you will face throughout life. Success is necessary in our lives and God made us to conquer. But through DeMarcus Rogers walk with God, he learned that God’s word presents a different definition of success. One centered on a relationship with Jesus Christ and a love for God that allows us to love and serve others. God gives each one of us unique gifts, abilities, and passions. How well we use those qualities to have an impact on the world around us determines how “successful” we really are. God gave DeMarcus a certain gift and passion to motivate others, so with this motivational book I hope you are inspired to chase your dreams, follow your passion, and trust God within your journey.
