A young man follows in the footsteps of Mark Twain and other rivermen to work his way up from the barge decks to the pilothouse of a modern towboat in the St. Paul harbor on the mighty Upper Mississippi River. Along the way he is trained by characters as eccentric as any to come before on the river. The comical adventures are sure to entertain and amaze anyone who is interested in life off the grid.
