Death, Estate and Marriage Notices from the Nantucket Gazette 1816-1817 (English Edition) [Kindle-editie]

The first known newspaper published on the Island of Nantucket, Massachusetts, was the Nantucket Gazette, AKA the Nantucket Commerce Gazette. The publisher was Abraham G. “ A. G.” Tannatt and and one could subscribe for $2.50 a year, payable in advance. It began with a prospectus published on March 18, 1816, and regular issues commenced May 6, 1816. Except for Dec. 21, 1816 and Jan. 4-18, 1817, the newspaper was published weekly. Although the newspaper was in publication for a short time, it contained numerous death and marriage notices, which have been transcribed for this publication
