José Antonio Navarro was a Mexican patriot, but he was a Texas patriot first and foremost. He fought the Spanish for Mexican Independence, but when it came down to it, he also stood against the Mexicans for Texas Independence. He was one of three Mexican signers of the Texas Declaration of Independence, and was one of the leaders of the Santa Fé Expedition. This brief biography honors the man whom Navarro County in Texas was named after.
