This is the story of one man - a Scot from Glasgow - who spent time researching and preparing himself to achieve an ambition developed over a couple of years. That was to return to New York and write about the city and some of its people. He spent close on a month there to allow him, unhurried, relaxed and in virtual holiday mode, to track down and see all the places he'd identified. Where you have places you have people, and it's the combination of the two that throws up all the interest and fascination, much of it laced with humour, that the author packs into this enjoyable and satisfying account of his exploits in one of the world's most captivating cities. If you're planning a visit to the Big Apple, this will whet the appetite. If you just want to know more about it, get the feel of it, it awaits your pleasure.
