Fred Tench, a fishing mad detective working in Staffordshire, investigates the discovery of a body in a pottery kiln. The murderer had hoped to destroy any evidence by cremating the body, but it was only enough to throw the detective off the scent for a short while. During the investigation, Fred takes his young Welsh constable out for his first fishing session. However, nothing goes to plan, especially when his young charge catches bigger and more carp than expected. How did he do it? Fred wasn't impressed when he found out about the very unusual bait that his colleague had used to catch so many fish during his first angling session? Fishing aside, will they catch the murderer and how? Written with humour by a match winning angler.
