Reggie Reynolds, a reporter in Baltimore, returns to her hometown of Honor, Alabama when her baby brother is murdered. She left town years ago under a scandalous cloud and the idea of returning is something she dreads. But her brother has been killed and the police aren’t giving her the answers she needs, so she returns to town. Reggie feels the heat from her community, too, as she fights to make sense of what is going on around her. Although the evidence sometimes may seem overwhelming, she refuses to believe that the man she loves could harbor the kind of hatred, could do the kind of things Phillip Robb is being accused of doing. Her love for Robb, however, will be tested time and time again as she seeks to uncover the truth he is trying so desperately to shield from her. But Reggie’s investigation leads her to believe that her brother’s death has everything to do with money and power and nothing to do with a drug deal gone wrong, as the police would have her believe.
